My scientific research is related mainly to the testing and implenetation of recycled refractory raw materials. Due to economical and environmental changes this topic is an urgen issue in refractory materials field. My work involves:

Testing of synthetic, natural and recycled refractory aggregates

- Density, bulk denisty and open porosity measurments

- Phase and chemical composition using XRD and XRF method

- Microscopical observation and evaluation using optical microscopy and SEM/EDS analysis

- Sieve analysis 

Testing of recycled aggregates containg materials, mainly MgO-C which is also the topic of my Ph. D. dissertation

Pysical properties

- Density, bulk density, open porosity and permeability measurments

Mechanical properties at ambient and elevated temperatures:

- Cold crushing strength (CCS)

- Cold and hot modulus of rupture (CMOR and HMOR)

- Stress intensity factor (K1C) together with energy of crack initiation (γnbt) and crack propagation (γWOF)

- Young's modulus determined using ultrasonic and resonance metod

Thermal properties:

- Thermal expansion (α) and thermal conductivity coefficients (λ)

Other properties measurments:

- Mercury porosimetry

- Oxidation resistance of carbon containg materials

- Phase and chemical composition using XRD and XRF method

- Microscopical observation and evaluation using optical microscopy and SEM/EDS analysis

- Post mortem analysis

My work is also focused on testing of chromium containing and chromium-free refractories applied in copper industry mainly against PbO-rich copper slags:

- Static corrosion tests with microscopical observation using SEM/EDS technique

- Phase and chemical composition using XRD and XRF method

- Hot stage microscopy 

- Determination of main degradation factors during interaction of slags with refractory materials
