- W 1989 na Wydziale Inżynierii Materiałowej i Ceramiki uzyskałem tytuł magistra inżyniera technologa materiałów ceramicznych.
- W 1996 roku obroniłem z wyróżnieniem pracę doktorską pt. „Kompozyty ziarniste z układu: stabilizowany tlenek cyrkonu-węglik wolframu”.
- Habilitowałem się w dziedzinie inżynierii materiałowej w roku 2012.
- Od marca 2020 roku jestem profesorem tytularnym.
- W latach 2016-2020 byłem Prodziekanem WIMiC ds. Współpracy.
- Obecnie jestem kierownikiem Katedry Ceramiki i Materiałów Ogniotrwałych oraz Przewodniczącym Rady Dyscypliny Inżynieria Chemiczna w AGH.
- Od 2009 jestem Prezesem Polskiego Towarzystwa Ceramicznego. Reprezentuje Polskę w International Ceramic Federation (ICF) Council i European Ceramic Society (ECerS) Council, przez kilka kadencji będąc członkiem Permanent Executive Council tej organizacji.
- W pracy naukowej współpracuje z zespołami z Chin i Słowacji w obszarze nowoczesnych kompozytów ceramicznych zawierających trudnospiekalne fazy kowalencyjne. Szczególnie zainteresowany kompozytami z osnową ceramiczną do zastosowań konstrukcyjnych, materiałami ogniotrwałymi i ceramicznymi kompozytami z osnową polimerową.
- W roku 2013 zostałem wyróżniony przez ECerS tytułem ECerS Fellow, a w 2016 - przez Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego Medalem Krajowej Komisji Edukacji. Byłem kilkunastokrotnie nagradzany przez JM Rektora AGH nagrodami za osiągnięcia naukowe.
- Jestem autorem ponad 250 publikacji (102 indeksowanych na liście JCR) i 23 patentów (1 patent EU) dotyczących technologii i właściwości materiałów ceramicznych oraz kompozytów zawierających fazy ceramiczne.
